A chocolate twist on traditional carrot cake, with a chocolate cream cheese frosting.

For the cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3 eggs
2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups grated carrot
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained
2/3 cup finely chopped pecans
1 cup mini chocolate chips
For the frosting:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 to 3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, for garnish (optional)
