Chocolate Orange Cookies

If you love the taste of chocolate and orange, then this cookie is definitely for you. I wanted to experiment adding an orange flavor to my favorite chocolate drop cookies. I am happy to report that I was successful. These cookies are awesome!

2/3 cup butter (I use 1/3 shortening and 1/3 cup butter)
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
1 egg
juice of an orange, add enough milk to make 1/3 cup
zest of an orange, about 1-2 tablespoons
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 salt
1 1/2 cups chocolate chip (it is optional, but I would add them)
Preheat oven 350 degrees Mix butter, sugar, egg, orange zest. Mix the dry ingredients. Add milk, juice, dry ingredients, and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet, bake 8-10 minute...

Marinated Taro Root

A marinated snack that can be used to replace late night bad habit cravings!

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
