Copycat See's Chocolate Fudge

4 1/2 cups sugar
1 large can evaporated milk
1 cup butter
24 oz chocolate chips (Mix milk and semi sweet)
1 tbsp vanilla
2 cups chopped nuts, optional
Bring sugar and milk to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 6 minutes then remove from heat and add butter, chocolate chips, and vanilla. Beat three minutes with a mixer, then add nuts and pour into a large buttered 9 x 13 inch pan. Place in the fridge and let it harden for 30 - 45 minutes. Cut into squares and serve.
