Want some corn dog without all the oil involved in deep frying? Make it into a cake
8
½ cup cornmeal
½ cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1½ tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
½ cup milk
4 ounces hot dog
½ cup all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
1½ tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
½ cup milk
4 ounces hot dog
To make cornmeal dough: In a large bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, sugar and baking powder. Add egg and milk, mix well. (The amount of salt suggested is minimal, because hot dog itself is salty. You can either omit the salt or add more according to taste)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cut hot dogs into small pieces (you can use any kind of sausage).
Prepare a baking dish, wipe a little oil in the bottom of the plate, then pour cornmeal dough into the pan.
(Try to find a dish of the right size so that you have no more than 1-inch thick dough)
Spread hot dog pieces in a layer on cornmeal dough, then push the hot dog pieces into the dough.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until surface is brown.
