A recipe for a low simmer tasty dhal using yellow split peas to be eaten with rice or bread.

For Dhal
2 cups of split peas
1/2 white onion
4 cloves of garlic
3/4 teaspoon turmeric
3/5 teaspoon cumin
1 large hot pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
7 cups water

For Rice
5 cups rice
