1 cup smooth unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon for sprinkling
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup chopped walnuts
