Flaky Cranberry Scones

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons unsalted, cold butter
½ dried cranberries
½ cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon milk
Mix flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until coarse crumbs. Add dried cranberries; mix. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg; add to other ingredients. Stir until it makes a soft ball, do not over-mix. Turn out on lightly floured surface, knead gently four or five time. Dust a rolling pen with flour and roll dough to ½-inch thickness in a circle. Cut into wedges, separate and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops of scones with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degree for 10 to 12 minutes.
