Gluten Free Biscuits for Chicken and Dumplings

2 c gluten free flour
1 tsp xantham gum
4 t baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 T sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 beaten egg
2/3 c milk
Combine dry ingredients. Cut shortening into mixture. Add milk and egg. Makes soft dough. Knead 20 strokes. If you do not use for Chicken and Dumplings you can also cook up. Pat into 3/4 thick and cut with cutter. Bake at 400 for 10 to 12 mins.
