Grandma's Molasses Sugar Cookies

Delicious spicy cookies. Soft and chewy. A family favorite!

3/4 c. butter, melted
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix together melted butter, sugar, molasses, and egg. Beat well. Add flour, baking soda, and spices. You are supposed to chill the dough at this point, but I never do. I use a cookie scoop and drop the dough into a small bowl of sugar. Roll the dough to thoroughly cover the ball, then place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
