Homemade Chai Concentrate

Keep this Chai Concentrate in your fridge for an anytime chai latte--hot or iced! Just add equal parts of this concentrate and milk, and voila! Fancy schmancy comforting drink!

4 1/2 cups water
2 sticks cinnamon
1 3-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
10 whole cardamom pods
3 whole star anise pods
12 whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon whole black pepper
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon orange zest
10 bags of black tea (I use a combination of English Breakfast Tea & Earl Grey)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon vanilla
