This simple recipe makes wonderfully rich, tender cookies. Serve them with fresh berries of the season for a nice, light dessert. These are great cookies for tea parties or the holidays.

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups quick cooking rolled oats
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Combine 1/2 cup butter or margarine and 1 cup brown sugar in saucepan; cook and stir until butter melts.
Stir in 2 cups quick-cooking rolled oats, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix well.
Pour into greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cool and cut into bars.
Makes 24 bars.
