Honey Oat Sandwich Bread for the Bread Machine

Our family's favorite sandwich bread. My husband is always disappointed when he has to eat the store-bought stuff now that he's used to this delicious bread.

1 cup water
1 cup oats
1 cup milk
3 Tbs unsalted butter
3 Tbs honey
3 cups flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp rapid rise yeast

Boil the water on the stove and add the oats. Cook for about a minute, just until the oats are soft, and let them cool. Warm the milk in your liquid measuring cup, melt the butter in a separate container, then add the butter to the milk. Add the honey to the milk and butter and whisk together. From there, add the ingredients to the bread machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. For my bread machine, I add the liquids, then the oats, flour, and salt. then I add the yeast last.
Set the bread machine to the basic or sandwich bread recipe and start the machine.
You may need to add more or less yeast depending on your climate and your bread machine. I started out using a full packet of yeast and had to pare it down 1/4 tsp at a time until I got the yeast amount right. In general, if breads turn out dense in your bread machine, use more yeast, and if they tend to fall, start with this amount and reduce it if it ends up being too much.
