(Immune System Boosting ) Elderberry Syrup

For the whole past 4 (almost 5) months of 2014, our lil' family of 3 has never experienced more colds, bugs or viruses than before! Not sure why we have been catching everything like crazy..but I decided enough was enough & we all needed to take some kind of immune-booster every day! I wanted something that was good for adults & one year olds too!

2/3 C dried organic elderberries
3.5 C filtered water
2 T fresh ginger root, peeled & diced (or ginger powder)
2-3 cinnamon sticks (or 1 T cinnamon powder)
1/2 - 1 T whole cloves (or clove powder)
1 Cup raw local pure honey
Combine berries, water, ginger, cinnamon & cloves into a medium saucepan. Bring to rolling boil & let simmer with lid on for 1 hour. Strain out liquid & let cool completely. Add 1 C honey & mix well....
