Indian Malai Kofta by Neharika

Malai kofta is a dish prepared by adding vegetable dumplings to a creamy tomato gravy. Its not too spicy, so it is a very famous restaurant dish.

For Kofta :
1/2 cup crushed carrot
2 cups boiled and mashed potatoes
1/4 cup pea seeds
Salt – to taste
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
1/4 tsp. cumin powder
1/2 tsp. corn flour
Oil for deep frying
For gravy :
1 tbsp. oil
2-3 whole black pepper
2 bay leaves (tez patta)
1/2 cup onion ginger garlic paste
3 boiled, peeled and mashed tomatoes
1/4 cup cream
1/4 cup coursely ground cashew nuts
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp. red chilli powder
1 tsp. coriander powder
1/4 tsp. garam masala powder
1/4 tsp.turmeric powder

1/4 tsp. garam masala powder
1/4 tsp.turmeric powder
To prepare koftas, mix all the ingrediets for kofta, except oil and mix well.
Now divide the mixture into equal and small portions and make small dumplings.
Heat oil in a pan and place dumplings into them.
Stir them smoothly and let them fry till they are golden brown.
Place a tissue paper in a plate and place fried dumplings into then and keep aside.
Now for gravy, heat oil in a pan and add black pepper and bay leaves.
Let them saute for 2 minutes and then add onion ginger garlic paste.
Again saute it then add mashed tomatoes to it.
Make sure that there are no lumbs and gravy is smooth.
Now add all the spices and mix well.
Now add cashew nuts and cream and mix well.
Malai kofta is ready.
Garnish with some cream and chopped coriander leaves and serve.
