Lake Blackshear Vanilla Ice Cream

A family recipe for vanilla ice cream that brings about fond memories of family time at the lake where we always have some homemade ice cream in the summers.

2 (12 oz.) cans of evaporated milk (we used 2%)
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1½ cups sugar
2 tbs. vanilla bean paste or extract
½ gallon of milk (we used 2% Lactaid milk)

Marinated Taro Root

A marinated snack that can be used to replace late night bad habit cravings!

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
