Lofthouse-Style Cookies

I’ve had Lofthouse cookies (in the states), and also copy-cat Lofthouse cookies (here in Canada…I don’t think we even get the real ones here) and I think THIS recipe is by far the best! These are so soft, and the buttercream frosting is the perfect complement to the light flavoring of the cookie. I always frost mine in pink. With sprinkles, of course. I made these for our New Year’s service at church and didn’t bring a single one home. Good thing I put a few aside for us!

Cookies:

3 Cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 Cup butter, at room temperature
1 Cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon Salt
3/4 Cups Sour cream

Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons heavy cream
Several drops food coloring
Sprinkles
