Magic Toffee Cookies

Besides being completely easy, the "magic" in these toffee cookies is the saltine cracker crust. No one will believe you when you tell them.

40 saltine crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 pkg. (12 oz) chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped pecans or other nuts
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cover a large baking sheet with foil. Place a single layer of crackers on the foil, edge to edge. Melt butter; add brown sugar. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour mixture over crackers and spread evenly. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes. Pour chocolate chips evenly over the top. Spread with the back of a spoon when softened. Sprinkle nuts on top. Place in the refrigerator to set. Break into pieces and store in the refrigerator.
