How would you like a little mid-week pick me up? I have one for you. . .in the form of a donut! Can I just say that I used to not like donuts. . .at all. Well, I didn’t like the kind of donuts that you buy at the store. They always seemed so sweet that they hurt my teeth and they left a weird, oily coating in my mouth. Not my idea of a tasty food. For the Donuts
1 C whole wheat flour
1 C all-purpose flour
1/3 C granulated sugar substitute or sugar
1/4 C brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp maple extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3 tbsp butter, melted
1 C non-fat milk
For the Streusel Pieces
1/4 C brown sugar
1 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3 tbsp butter, cold
For the Drizzle
2 tbsp butter
1/4 C brown sugar
1 tbsp milk
1/4 C confectioner’s sugar
1 tsp maple extract
