Mom's Frosting aka The Best Frosting Ever

This is the frosting my mom made for every birthday growing up. It is our family's favorite frosting and you don't have to refrigerate it because it is made with shortening.

1 1/4 cup shortening (Crisco is the best)
3 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup water minus 2 teaspoons
1 pound powdered sugar
