I always loved coming home from school when it was a rainy day, because that meant Mom made cookies! These were one of her favorites and are my favorite snickerdoodle recipe. And they don't need cream of tartar, so you can make them with ingredients you already have in your pantry!

Mix thoroughly:
1 stick (1/2 cup) margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs

Mix in:
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Chill dough for about 30 minutes. Roll into 1 1/4 inch balls. In a separate bowl, mix 2 Tbsp sugar with 2 tsp cinnamon (more or less depending on how you like it). Roll dough...
