Mushroom and Pepper Rice Pilaf

This rice dish is easier than risotto but adds a little extra to your weekday rice side dish.

2 tablespoons margarine, divided
1 ½ cups mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, diced small
1 yellow onion, diced small
3 cloves garlic, pressed
1 cup basmati rice
2 cups chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon salt
