Salted Caramel Upside Down Cake

Upside down, right side up, this turned into one delicious cake.

2/3 cup of fine bakers sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon salted butter

For the cake
4 to 5 oranges
1/2 cup of almonds (whole or sliced)
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick salted butter, room temperature
2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/2 cup sour cream
