Simple Teriyaki Sauce

My version of the traditional teriyaki sauce – perfect as a stir-fry sauce or marinade and ready in just a few minutes.

4 tbsp reduced salt soy sauce (you can also use regular soy sauce if that’s what you’ve got in the cupboard)
4 tbsp mirin
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
3 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 inch cube fresh ginger

3 T cornmeal
3 T unsweetened cocoa powder
Pinch salt
3 eggs
1/2 c salted butter
1/2 c light corn syrup
1 t vanilla extract
1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, cornmeal, cocoa and salt. Add eggs, melted butter, corn syrup and vanilla; mix well. Pour into unbaked pie crust.
