Soft and Salty Homemade Pretzels

These soft but chewy pretzels are like those you can get at the mall food court. These are not quick and easy, although the time spent is worth it. And it's fun to make different designs with the dough. Your kids will LOVE you if you make a batch of these yummy, chewy pretzels tonight!

Soft Pretzels (my recipe adapted from Alton Brown)
1 package instant dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 Tablespoons melted BUTTER
1 teaspoon dough enhancer (optional for softer pretzels)
4 1/4 cups all purpose flour
Rock Salt (to sprinkle on top)
Hot Water Bath of 5 cups water to 1/3 cup baking soda
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and knead or let the mixer do it for you for 3 minutes (with a dough hook). Then let the dough rise for an hour in a nicely oiled bowl covered with plastic wrap....
