Soft Frosted Sugar Cookies

They are like a super puffy cloud floating through cookie heaven. They’re the perfect cross between a cookie and a miniature cake (i.e. cupcake).

For Cookies:
6 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup (equivalent to 2 sticks) butter, room temperature
2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 and 1/2 cups sour cream
frosting, see below
colored sugar to sprinkle over frosting (optional)

For Frosting:
1 cup butter (equivalent to 2 sticks), room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons heavy cream
