Split Pea with Ham Soup

A hearty soup made in the crock-pot. Works well with a left over ham bone from a boiled dinner. Always better the next day as it naturally thickens. This dish freezes well.

1 pound split peas rinsed
2 quarts water
1 pound ham cubed
1 cup celery chopped
1 medium onion chopped
3 slices bacon raw, diced
3 carrots sliced
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
black pepper to taste
2 quarts water
1 pound ham cubed

Mix all ingredients together in crock pot and cook on high 5-6 hrs or on low 10-12 hours until peas are dissolved and carrots are tender.
