Sunday Morning Coffee Cake

A moist, cinnamon-y wake up call

1/3 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. buttermilk

topping:
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
Stir together all ingredients. Spread in a greased 9" pan. Combine topping ingredients in a small dish and sprinkle over top of dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

Marinated Taro Root

A marinated snack that can be used to replace late night bad habit cravings!

8 small taro roots
water
salt
1 cup yogurt, mixed with enough water to submerge roots (add salt)

  1. Wash the taro roots well.
  2. Slightly cut a slit into each root, but not big enough to split the root into two pieces. This will allow the water and marinade to go into the taro root
