Sweet & Salty Baked Donuts

These baked donuts are delicious and slightly healthier than their fried counterpart. I like to mimic my favorite from the donut shop, chocolate glaze with chopped peanuts, but the donut by itself is a great blank canvas! If you do not have whole wheat pastry flour on hand, just use all all-purpose flour.

Donuts:
½ cup all purpose flour
½ cup whole wheat pastry flour
6 tbs sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
6 tbs buttermilk
1 egg
½ tsp vanilla
1 tbs melted butter

For Chocolate Glazed Donuts:
¼ cup chocolate chips
1 tbs melted butter
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp hot water
chopped peanuts
1. Preheat oven to 325 and lightly grease your donut pan. 2. Mix together dry ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and whisk to combine. Using a piping bag, pipe batter into prepared pan (you can also carefully use a spoon to fill pan). 3. Bake 8-11 minutes, until donuts spring back when touched. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack. During this time, prepare your glaze(s).
