1 1/2 cup of hot water
1 cup of sliced dates
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 cup softened butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup of sliced dates
1 teaspoon of baking soda

Pre-heat oven to 325.
Mix and cool the hot water, dates and baking soda. Cream sugar, butter and eggs. Sift flour, salt and baking soda..
alternate the date mixture and flour mixture into cake batter. Pour into a long pan, 11 x 13. mix the brown sugar,
chips and nuts. Sprinkle nut mixture on top of cake batter. Bake for 40 - 45 mins.
