Toffee Bars

A shortbread crust, topped with chocolate , toffee bits, and chopped pecans ~ these decadently delicious bars are a toffee lover's dream.

Crust:
1 c. (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 c. light brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour (or white whole wheat flour, which is what I use)

Topping:
1 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped pecans
3/4 c. chopped Heath Bar or Heath toffee bits
