We had another birthday today and usually I'm in charge of the cake. Lugging a cake in the car can be quite an adventure. One eye is on the traffic and the other is on the cake riding shotgun. 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup softened butter
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
3 tbsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Frosting
3 sticks of softened butter
3 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp vanilla bean paste or extract
