Butternut Squash Soup with Pears

This tasty pureed soup pairs perfectly with pork chops or chicken.

1 butternut squash (about 3 lbs)
2 tbs unsalted butter
1 tbsp oil
1 yellow onion finely chopped
6 cups of chicken stock or vegetable broth
1-2 large (depending on how much you want to add)
