Almost Famous Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup

Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup is \\\"almost famous\\\". This recipe is based on Pea Soup Andersens famous endless bowl version in Buellton, California. 2 cups green split peas
8 cups vegetable stock (or chicken)
1 stalk celery, coarsely chopped
1 large carrot, peeled and coarsely chopped
1 small onion, peeled and chopped
1/4 tsp thyme
1 bay leaf
Pinch of cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp Vegeta
Salt and pepper to taste
Sort the peas in a mesh strainer, removing any stones or impurities. Rinse them clean. Combine the peas, celery, carrot, onion, thyme, Vegeta and cayenne in slow cooker and cover 8 cups of stock. Place...
