Sweet and savory, buttery and crunchy, this Apple and Butternut Squash Casserole with brown sugar and pecans has it all! The festive make ahead side dish has been a family favorite for over 40 years, and it's the perfect addition to your next holiday table!

3-4 medium apples, thinly sliced (we like to use a combination of Cortland, Golden Delicious, McIntosh, and/or Granny Smith apples)
6-8 T. butter ( divided )
¾ c. brown sugar ( divided )
1 t. salt
1 large butternut squash
2 c. Corn Flakes cereal
1 c. chopped pecans
