This gets a better consistency if you let it sit about 5 minutes before serving

1 medium head of cabbage
2 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup hot milk
1/2 cup cheddar, shredded
3/4 cup cracker crumbs

Cut cabbage in wedges then slice 1/4 inch thick.
Boil in water for 10 minutes.
Drain well and place in buttered casserole. Sprinkle with the flour, salt, pepper and sugar.
Dot with butter.
Pour the hot milk over the cabbage and top with the grated cheese.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Stir and top with the cracker crumbs.
Bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
