Beef Stroganoff

We have been making this for probably 30 years or more, it is one of our family favorites, that we never tire of. We love to serve it with broccoli, it makes it look so pretty on the plate.

2 pounds beef tenderloin or sirloin steak
1/4 cup butter
1 pound sliced mushrooms, preferably fresh
2 cans (10 1/2 oz.)condensed beef broth
2 teaspoons onion powder
1/4 cup catsup
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
1/3 cup flour
2 cups sour cream
3 tablespoons butter
8 to 10 ounces cooked noodles
Cut meat into cubes or thin strips. Melt 1/4 cup butter in large skillet/ Cook and stir mushrooms in butter about 5 minutes, remove mushrooms. In same skillet, brown meat. Reserving 2/3 cup of the broth, stir in remaining broth, the onion powder, catsup and garlic salt. Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until tender. Blend reserved broth and the flour, stir into the meat. Add mushrooms heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in sour cream heat through but do not let boil. Cook noodles as directed on package, drain, toss with 3 tablespoons butter. Serve noodles with stroganoff poured over top.
