Bisibelabath is a very popular dish in Karnataka. The name Bisi bele bhaath is a phrase, which literally means \\\\\\\"Hot Lentil Rice\\\\\\\", as in Kannada, Bisi means hot, bele means Lentils and bhaath means a dish made of rice (Def-wiki. Since it is cooked with lentils, vegetables and rice and it can be called a one pot meal. Many think it is a very elaborate process but actually it is very simple to make.

1 bowl cooked rice
1 medium onion or 3 to 4 shallots, diced
½ medium carrot, chopped
½ potato, diced
8-10 french beans, chopped
½ cup peas
1 medium tomato, chopped
fistfull raw peanuts / groundnuts
1 cup cooked tuvar dal
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ cup tamarind juice
3-4 tsp bisi bele bath masala powder
salt to taste

For tempering:

2 tbsp ghee or oil
1 tsp mustard (rai or sarson)
2 to 3 dry byadagi / bedgi chilies or dry red chilies
12 to 15 curry leaves (kadi patta)
18 to 20 cashews (kaju)
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
