British Hot Cross Buns

Traditional recipe, best served warm and buttered.

3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, 1 cold cubed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon all spice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup currant
2 ounces dried yeast
1 cups milk, warmed
2 medium eggs
For the crosses
1/3 cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar
3-4 tablespoons cold water
For the bun glaze
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 tablespoon boiling water
