Okay, so there’s some explanation behind the name of this casserole. First off, I found a recipe on Pinterest months ago, pinned it but never looked at the recipe. The name of it didn’t give you much to go off of: “John Wayne Casserole”, that’s it! All I know about John Wayne is he’s in a lot of old cowboy movies and I’m not a big fan of old cowboy movies. So I had no idea if you should automatically know what the dish was all about based on the name, I had no clue. I finally clicked on the
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
3/4 cup onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
1 taco seasoning packet
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded & divided
1 sm. can (4 oz) diced green chilies
1 (10 oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies
2 cups Bisquick
1 1/4 cup water, divided
3/4 cup onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
1 taco seasoning packet
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded & divided
1 sm. can (4 oz) diced green chilies
1 (10 oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies
2 cups Bisquick
1 1/4 cup water, divided
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
