Chettinad chicken curry

Chettinad chicken curry is a classic Indian recipe from Chettinad region of tamilnadu . I have used variety of rich spices and ground masala to give a spiciest taste and aromatic flavor for this chicken curry. This is one of the most common chicken curry which i prepare at home and it taste good with dosa,roti,rice and many more.

Whole chicken chopped into medium size pieces
3 Onions
2 Tomatoes
8Curry leaves
2 tsp Fresh coriander leaves
1 inch stick Cinnamon
2 Cardamon
3 Clove
6 whole Red chilies
1 tsp coriander seeds
½ tsp fennel seeds
2 tsp grated coconut
2tsp Ginger chopped
2 tsp Garlic chopped
¼ tsp Turmeric
1 tsp Salt or as per taste
2 tsp Poppy seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1 tsp lemon juice
3 tsp Oil
*Clean and wash the chicken and set aside. *Finely chop the onions and tomatoes . *In a skillet add 1 tsp of oil and roast the red chillies,grated coconut,poppy seeds ,cumin seeds,coriander seeds,Cardamon,cloves,fennel seeds,cinnamon,ginger ,garlic and blend with ¼ cup of water to form a fine masala paste . *Take a heavy bottom pan / pressure cooker ,add 2 tsp of oil,when hot add curry leaves ,onions and sauté for few min until the onions become translucent. *Now add chicken pieces and sauté with onion for 2 min,then add salt ,turmeric powder and ground masala and coat well with chicken and cook for 5 min. *After 5 min,add 1 cup of water close the lid of pan and continue cooking the chicken for another 20 min until chicken are well cooked. *Once the chicken are cooked add,lime juice and chopped coriander leaves and remove from heat . *Transfer to the serving bowl and serve the hot and spicy Chettinad chicken curry.
