Chilagada Dumpa / Sweet Potato Tomato Gravy Curry

Its not a very spicy curry but not too mild,its a kind of sweet,little spicy and sour as we add tomatoes to the curry , as it is very famous recipe from Andhra as our family favorite recipe using sweet potato. Actually we loved to eat sweet potato as my mother will cook sweet potato directly on fire, as it is more delicious.

Oil -4 tablespoons,
Green chillies -3 slit into half &long,
Curry leaves -6
Ginger Garlic Paste-11/2 teaspoons,
Onions -2 numbers,
Salt to taste,
Red Chilli Powder -2 tablespoons,
Turmeric Powder-1/2 teaspoon,
Sweet Potatoes-2numbers,
Tomatoes-11/2 number.
Coriander Leaves small quantity.
First Peel and wash the sweet potatoes. Cut into thin long pieces. Cut onions and tomatoes into small pieces. Heat a thick bottomed pan and add 4tbsp oil. Once oil get heated add green chillies,curry leaves and onions and add little bit salt and fry the onions until golden brown in color. later add turmeric powder and ginger garlic paste to that and fry for 2 more minutes. once it is fried add sweet potato pieces and add red chilli powder and fry for few seconds and add water and close the lid and cook for about 15 minutes , stirring occasionally. When the potatoes are soft add tomato pieces and salt to required taste. Cover and cook for another 5-10 minutes. when the gravy thickens and oozes out oil, add chopped coriander and simmer for 1 min ,and turn off heat.the dish is ready. It taste very yummy with hot rice and papad.
