Chocolate Bacon Cupcakes w/Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

Don't turn away from this recipe because of the name! These moist dark chocolate cupcakes combined with the crunchy salty bacon topped with the creamy peanut butter makes a flavor combination you can't even imagine. Try out the recipe to see what I'm talking about!

4 pieces of bacon
1/2 Cup butter
5 squares of Lindt dark chocolate with sea salt (about 1/4 cup)
3/4 Cup flour
1/2 Cup cocoa powder (I use toll house for baking)
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs, room temperature
1/2 Cup sugar
1/4 Cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 Cup buttermilk*
1 Tbsp syrup

Peanut Butter Frosting:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 Cup peanut butter
2-3 Tbsp powdered sugar
2-3 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla

Syrup and chocolate chips for topping, optional
