Cincinnati Chili

My husband grew up in Cincinnati & raised on Skyline Chili. I had the pleasure of going there once a few years ago. He acquired a homemade recipe that we have made here, in Wyoming, since and we all love it!!

• 4 cups cold water
• 2 pounds ground beef
• 3 cups crushed tomatoes
• 2 yellow onions diced
• 5 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
• 1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/4 cup chili powder
• 1 teaspoon cayenne
• 1 teaspoon ground cumin
• 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
• 1 bay leaf
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1. Add beef and water to a large pot (4-quarts or more). Bring to a simmer, use a spoon to break the ground beef into little pieces. Continue cooking for 30 minutes. Add in remaining ingredients and mix well to combine. 2. Cook uncovered on low heat for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Add water as needed if chili becomes too thick. Homemade Multigrain Bread

The combination of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour make for a soft, delicious multigrain bread perfect for sandwiches. Once you start making your own bread at home, you may never go to the grocery store bread aisle again. This is a delicious sandwich bread that the whole family will enjoy. Soft like white bread, but with the added benefits of whole wheat flour. Allow your baked loaves to cool before slicing. You can store the extra loaf tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to 2 months.

2 cups milk
1 cup old fashioned oats
2/3 cup brown sugar
5 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons active dry yeast
2 eggs
1/2 cup wheat germ
3 cups whole wheat flour
3 cups all purpose flour
extra butter
1 tablespoons oats

  • Heat milk in microwave until just boiling. Pour into free standing mixer bowl (or into large bowl to mix and knead by hand).
