Sweeter than the average cornbread, even cornbread haters love this!

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add the beaten egg. Combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt in a small bowl.

1/2 lb. bacon
1 medium onion
