German Soft Pretzels

Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! This Pretzel recipe is easy to make and - thanks to using baking soda instead of real brine - completely safe.

!Dough
1.5oz (42g) cake yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
4 cups (500g) flour
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 1/4 cups (300ml) lukewarm water

!Brine
1.5 quarts (1.4l) water
3.5oz (100g) baking soda
1 tablespoon salt

!To Finish
Your favorite toppings (sea salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, cheese... Anything goes!)
