Gingerbread Spiced Onion Rings

Adding the spice to the flour when breading the onion rings will give them a nice holiday feel. Perhaps start a trend of “Holiday Spiced Onion Rings.” I picked sweet Vidalia onions rather then a traditional yellow or red because I felt the sweeter onion would compliment the gingerbread spice well.

1/2 teaspoon gingerbread spice
1/2 cup fat free sour cream
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
3 eggs (beaten)
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons gingerbread spice
1 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 large sweet onion (cut into rings)
cooking spray
Mix the first four ingredients in a small bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour Pre-heat the oven to 350 Using three coating trays or two plates and one bowl, get ready to make the rings. Beat the three eggs...
