Grandma Marie's Simple Banana (Nut) Bread

Delicious and easy banana bread!

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
4 ripe bananas
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1 cup nutmeats (optional)
Mix all ingredients together. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-65 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Makes one large, two small or four mini loaves.
