Homemade English Toffee

1 cup nuts - walnuts, pecans, almonds, etc.
1 cup butter (NOT MARGARINE)
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 cup milk chocolate chips
Line an 8x8 pan with wax paper, then add 3/4 of coarsely chopped nuts. Turn stove onto the highest heat. In a pan, place butter, sugar, and water. Mix all of the ingredients together with a wooden spoon. Keep stirring throughout the time of cooking - about 10-15 mins (DO NOT LEAVE). Cook until mixture leaves the sides of the pan. Also, the mixture color needs to be amber (or smoking slightly). Pour mixture over nuts. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let it sit for 2 - 3 minutes, then, using a rubber spatula, gently glide over the tops of the chocolate to smooth it out. Sprinkle the rest of the nuts over the top and let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes, or in the fridge for 12 minutes. Cut or break apart in the size of pieces you desire.
