Italian Cream Cake

I was very surprised on how this recipe turned out. It's moist and good. I believe this cake is very nice to eat as a special day with family :) I topped it out with some whipped cream and its a great combo, so you can do the same if you'd like (^-^)!

5 Eggs, separated at room temperature
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter or Margarine, at room temperature
1/2 cup Vegetable Shortening
1 1/4cups Sugar
2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 cup Buttermilk, room temperature
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 cups Shredded Sweetened Coconut
1 cup Pecans or Walnuts
