Kidny Beans (Gravy Rajma)

A very famous Indian curry served with rice or Indian bread.

Kidney Beans (Rajma) Soaked for 7-8 hours - 1 cup
Onion grated – 2 medium sizes
Tomato puree – 2-3 Table spoon
Oil - 2-3 tsp
Salt to taste
Red Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
Rajma masala – 2 tsp
A pinch of turmeric
Green chillies (optional) – 2

Step 1
Put the soaked rajma in a pressure cooker. Add 3-4 cups of water. After one whistle, simmer the gas for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat after 20 minutes.
Step 2
In a pan take the oil. Add grated onion. Sauté till onion turns into golden brown color. Add red chilly powder, rajma masala, a pinch of turmeric, salt to taste. Sauté for a while. Now add tomato puree. Finally put a little water. Mix well. Cook till oil separates.
Step 3
Add the boiled rajma with the cooking liquid. Mix well. Cook on low heat for about 5-6 minutes stirring occasionally.
Step 4
Serve with Rice (steamed rice or Jeera* rice) or Lacha Parantha (Indian Bread-Recipe coming soon).
